Udaipur, December 10,2024- The Inner Sanctum of Chandpol’s Jagannath Temple has been suffering from continuous sewage leakage for the past eight months. On Monday, December 9,2024 a team from Smart City took steps to address the issue.

Inspection by Smart City Team

The Smart City team visited the temple and inspected the site. The manholes behind the temple were emptied, revealing two damaged sections of the sewage line. To fix the issue, the edges of the manholes were sealed with cement. The team plans to monitor the situation once the water supply resumes to ensure the leakage has stopped.

Reason for the Leakage

The temple is located below road level, while the sewage line runs above it, causing dirty water to leak into the sanctum. Previously, rats had damaged the line, and temporary repairs were made. However, the problem persisted.

Sewage water leaking into the temple disrupted the sanctity of the space, affecting the faith of devotees. The Pollution Control Board had tested water samples on September 11, confirming the leakage was from the sewage line.

Final Outcome Awaited

Former Lake Development Authority member Tej Shankar Paliwal stated that the repairs have been completed. The situation will become clear in the next few days as the water supply resumes.
