Udaipur's Shakti Nagar Bottleneck Expansion Delays

Government approval still pending; demolition of bottleneck started in April 2025

Shaktinagar Bottleneck

Udaipur, March 20, 2025 - The expansion of the Shaktinagar bottleneck has been delayed for almost a year. The project is stuck as the state government has not approved land allocation for affected homeowners. Currently, the road is only 13 feet wide. Once approval is granted, the road will be widened to 30 feet, said Superintending Engineer Mukesh Pujari.

On April 5 last year, Udaipur Municipal Corporation demolished parts of six houses to clear the road. To compensate the homeowners, land was identified in Hiran Magri Sector-11 and near the corporation's premises. However, the proposal is still waiting for government approval. During the clearing process, the affected homeowners had approached the court to stop the demolition. However, the court rejected their plea, considering the project as a developmental initiative.

On December 14 last year, the road leading from Shaktinagar to the Municipal Corporation was repaired. The work lasted ten days but the full expansion remains stalled.
