A Shaktinagar resident's appeal to stop the Municipal Corporation's demolition of part of his house was rejected by the court. The court ruled that the demolition, aimed at widening the road, serves public interest.

Sunil Kalra had filed a petition after the Municipal Corporation demolished part of his ancestral home. The Municipal Corporation had earlier issued a notice to Kalra, claiming that the house had illegal construction and commercial activities. Kalra argued that the construction was legal, and no commercial activities were taking place as claimed by the Corporation.

However, the Municipal Corporation’s lawyer, Shatrughan Singh Chundawat, maintained that the road widening is for public benefit. The court, agreeing with this view, dismissed Kalra’s request for a stay.
