God has blessed us with everything, health, wealth and happy family. But not everyone is lucky like us, so being a human! it’s our duty to do something for those who don’t have everything. Dr. Deepak Babel Playing with a Thalassemic Kid The above quote was said by Dr. Deepak Babel a renowned orthopedic from Udaipur has no straight reason to start this mission for children suffering from Thalassemia, but just a tiny incident shook his mind. A year back in 2010 he came across a 2 year old kid who asked Dr. Babel to show off his palm so that he can check his hemoglobin, “It surprised me, how such a small child know what is hemoglobin and how to check it? I got emotionally attached with that kid and decided to do something, like what we are trying to do today for children suffering from Thalassemia”. On World Thalassemia Day 2011 (Sunday 8th of May 2011) Udaipur’s Raven Foundation in association with their own medical branch Disha has initiated a mission named Pahel, led by Charlotte Raven and Dr. Deepak Babel – Founders of Raven Foundation and their dedicated team of Hetal Amin and Pooja including several other volunteers and friends. The day will start from a blood donation camp which is going to be held at Lake City Hospital near Fatehpura Circle from 9 am to 2 pm on 8th may 2011. The blood donation camp will be followed by a picnic thrown by Raven Foundation for children suffering from Thalassemia. Picnic will be at Lal Bagh Restaurant, near panchwati. The main attraction of this picnic party will be the presence of cute and innocent looking children aged between 9 months to 14 years. These children will going to enjoy watching movies, magic shows, games and at last prizes and gifts to encouragement these angels. Now, let’s come to the point. Yesterday I was applauded for my bashings to people like me and you. Tomorrow is our chance to step up like a responsible and sensible Udaipurite.
