A showdown was carried out by agitated vegetable vendors in Panchwati. They claim that they have been removed from their “business site” illegally.

Municipal Corporation declared a no-vending zone outside Panchwati Park. This area has been used by female vegetable vendors since long for selling vegetables and is quite popular among the residents nearby. As a result of the area being declared a no-vending zone, all female vegetable vendors sat down on the site and protested against Municipal Corporation. They said that this area has been their business site and they earn their living here since years.

The place outside Panchwati Park has been the bread earning centre for many females who are either widows or have been abandoned by husband and in-laws. If this site is taken away from them, they will face problems in earning for their families. Rajesh Singhvi, District head for CITU says that municipal corporation is using wilful ways and not following the street vendor act in appropriate way.
