Udaipur Municipal Council, in a move to ease the burden of the common man, the Municipality will not impose Property Tax; the tax was notified by the Government of India. However, strict vigilance along with repercussive action will be taken on those who try or intend to break rules while constructing residential apartments.
Such various essential considerations including suggestion and decisions to solve the city issues were worked on today at the Municipal Corporation’s administration committee meeting. One of the most important was the problem of growing encroachment in Udaipur and measures to prevent it.
Other topics discussed were imposing of wealth tax; prevention of any violation during the residential construction, extending the contract of computer systems in Nagar Parishad, etc.
The Committee also discussed on executing the common meeting of all wards in the coming days, the main purpose of which is to mainly invite suggestions from the common public in the development of the city.
The meeting, which was held in the leadership of Chairman Rajni Dangi; Vice Chairman, Mahendra Singh Shekhawat and Commissioner, Dinesh Kothari; with other administrative committee councilors included deliberations and discussions on all discussion matters including the above, as incorporated in the agenda.
Rajni Dangi briefed media and disclosed all agendas taken in the meeting. She said, “We tried to ease the problems of the common mass by not imposing property tax on plots lesser than 2,700sq. feet; inspite of the notification given by Government of India.” Legally speaking, the Municipal Corporation is empowered to take the decision at their behest.
She also said that the committee members have suggested solving the issue of encroachment by hiring third party employees on contract or invite private firms to tackle the issue. “We are lacking in man power, so this was one of the suggestions given by administrative committee today”, Rajni Dangi told UT.
Another agenda in the meeting was Ward meetings at the individual level which is going to be held soon.
Rajni Dangi said, “There are 55 wards in the city and we invite everyone to give their suggestions; ward meetings are not for solving problems but to decide what important suggestions we can forward to the Government of India in order to make Udaipur socially, economically and culturally bright.”
