Various government, non-government and international organizations will brainstorm together to develop and maintain the Heritage sites of Udaipur, on the same time considering it that urbanization should not affect the heritage.

To reflect the thoughts and ideas of Master Plan of Udaipur a five day workshop on “Integrating Heritage Resources in Master Plan of Udaipur” will start from 19 March at Udaipur Municipal Corporation.

The workshop is initiated in a joint venture of Udaipur Municipal Corporation, Govt. of Rajasthan, City of Strasbourg, and Indian Heritage Cities Network Organization (IHCN) in association with Resource Organizations, Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation, INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage) Udaipur Chapter and DRONAH (Development and Research Organization for Nature, Arts and Heritage).

With local authorities, various town planners and engineers will also join the workshop including a team from Strasbourg, France which consists of Geraldine Mastelli, Urban Planner, Francois Nowakowski, Architect and Urban Planner, Alice Delzant, Project Officer, Department of International Affairs, City of Strasbourg.

The representatives from UNESCO are also expected in the workshop. The main objective of the event is to identify the heritage buildings, resources and work on various challenges, policies for sustainable growth and eco mobility of Urban Heritage in Udaipur

The five day workshop will consist of various sessions by participants and it also includes heritage walk to the city. The participants will present their studies and research works and discuss on it.

On 19 March, two sessions including inaugural session and introduction to Udaipur will be conducted, where Shikha Jain from IHCN will introduce objectives of workshop, Geraldine Mastelli will present the Heritage and Urban Planning in Strasbourg and Govindan Kutty of IHCN will present Mysore Urban Conservation Plan.

N K Khare of Town Planning Department will present the Master Plan of the lake city, Udaipur.

On 20th March, Geraldine Mastelli and Francois Nowakowski will present Mapping of major developments, stakes and difficulties in the Master Plan and their impact on Heritage.

On 21st the discussion will be on improving the urban environment including work on the Ahar river front and preparation of undergoing cabling.

On the second last day, 22nd March a heritage walk will be conducted, while on the last day each team will present their final work, revision of master plan mapping and inclusion of new findings.
