Previous firm's petrol boats ceased due to contract expiry; comply with the High Court's mandate for eco-friendly boating

Electric Boats

Udaipur, January 21, 2025 - The Udaipur Development Authority (UDA) is set to introduce solar and electric boats at Fateh Sagar Lake's Mumbaiya Bazaar point. Tenders for operating these boats have been invited and can be submitted until January 28, 2025.

As per the tender, the selected firm will operate seven boats, including:

  • Three speed boats with a seating capacity of 5-6 passengers.

  • Four regular boats accommodating 20-30 passengers.

  • A petrol-powered boat will also be available exclusively for rescue operations.

Ticket Prices and Contract Duration

Ticket prices will range from Rs 150/- to Rs 600/- per person, with an annual increment of up to 10%. The contract will last for three years, with a potential one-year extension. UDA estimates annual revenue of Rs 4.85 crore from this initiative.

Previous Operations and Dues

Previously, Shriramdev General Motors operated seven petrol-powered boats at one point. However, operations ceased in January after their contract expired. UDA has issued a notice for Rs 3.50 crore in pending dues, which the firm disputes, citing losses due to technical issues.

Eco-Friendly Operations Already at Moti Magri

Ujjain Dreams currently operates seven electric solar boats from the Moti Magri boating point under a three-year contract.

Operation Timings

  • March to September: 8:00 AM to 7:30 PM

  • October to February: 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM

UDA plans to maintain Fateh Sagar’s cleanliness and comply with the High Court's mandate for eco-friendly boating. Previously, CNG-powered boats were proposed but faced technical challenges. Electric and solar boats are expected to ensure sustainable lake management and protect aquatic life.
