The absence of qualified doctors like Gynecologist, Radiologists and Sonologists at the government hospitals of the district, sonography machines are gathering dust on it. In a situation like this, pregnant rural women are forced to run to the hospitals of the district headquarters and there they are waiting for 4 to 5 days. In this case, poor villagers are spending money from their pocket to get the sonography done.
By hearing the problems of common people, it came to light that there are two sonography machines in the district of Salumber which have been recently declared, but they are not being used. The medical department currently has sonography machines in 10 community health centers and sub-district hospitals. Out of these only 3 are in use now, remaining 7 machines are lying idle.
In Udaipur district, there are more than 70 sonography machines in private clinics including government institutions. Of these, more than 40 are in the city. Looking at the average figures of the department, every year 80 thousand women undergo pre-natal check-up in the district. These tests are compulsorily done three times in the entire delivery period.
