Operation of speed boat in Fateh Sagar was suspended by Udaipur Municipal Corporation. This suspension comes as an after effect of the fatal accident that happened a week back when a speed boat rammed into a motor boat taking one life.

A notice asking the boat contractor to suspend speed boat operations was served by UMC. Motor boat operations would however continue. UMC Commissioner, Siddharth Sihag notified the contractor MM Travels to ensure that all possible measures are taken so that accidents of the kind that happened last week do not happen again.

Citing terms and conditions of the tender, Sihag asked the contractor to ensure that they should at all times be prepared with first aid elements, rescue boat with two trained rescue divers, diving suits and life jackets. He asked the firm to notify UMC once the arrangements have been made.

Post the speed boat accident last week, the contractor was running the speed boat at much reduced speeds. The accident has also resulted in a drop in interest amongst tourists for taking a boat ride in Fateh Sagar
