Udaipur, December 5, 2024 - Rajasthan government has canceled the recruitment of 23,820 sanitation workers in the urban local bodies of the State. The Department of Autonomous Governance withdrew the recruitment order yesterday following allegations of corruption and delays in the issuance of experience certificates which had led to resentment among sanitation worker organisations and applicants.

Approximately 3.50 lakh people had applied for these positions.

Following this, similar demands were raised from other local bodies in the State.

Sanitation workers had been protesting against changes in recruitment rules, and work was halted due to issues related to the certification of experience. Reportedly, experience certificates were being issued without any supporting records.

Union Law Minister Arjun Meghwal had also raised objections regarding the recruitment process. The matter was brought to the attention of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma after which the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) issued the withdrawal order.
