On Tuesday 28 February 2023, a group of wild dogs killed a three-year-old girl in the Bandia village in the CB Ganj area of Bareilly. Doctors determined that she had at least 200 dog bites on her body. The youngest of four sisters and a brother, Pari was the daughter of labourer Avdhesh Gangwar. She was having fun in the yard of their home on Tuesday night while her older sister Sunita was cooking dinner. Soon after, Pari went to the playground to play when she was attacked by seven to eight hungry dogs.

Locals said that a young man heard her pleading for assistance and sprang to save her. As he rescued Pari from the dogs' grasp, he also received bites from them. When she arrived at the hospital, the medical staff declared her dead. She was wandering far from the house, and no one in the family heard her scream for help, according to Pari's uncle Jitendra Kumar. She was even carried by the dogs for close to 50 meters while they bit her deeply, especially on her neck.

We have despatched a team to the area to verify the event, CB Ganj SHO Ashok Kumar said. The body was buried using Hindu customs after the family declined to have it put through an examination. The event has been reported to the local authority, and they have been instructed to take the required actions to address the stray dog threat.
