Strict OPD Rules at RNT Medical College; 24-Hr Emergency at Super Specialty Hospital

Under the new rules, doctors must be present at the scheduled time during OPD days, while ward rounds will take place later in the day or when patient load is lower

Udaipur, March 28, 2026 – RNT Medical College Principal Dr Rahul Jain has announced major steps to improve hospital management and handle negligence in emergency and outpatient (OPD) services. These decisions have been taken  based on the recommendations of a special committee.

Henceforth, a 24-hour emergency unit will be operational at the Super Specialty Hospital. This will not only reduce the burden on MB Hospital Udaipur, but also ensure that critical patients directly receive consultation and treatment from super-specialist doctors. It will help eliminate delays caused by referring patients between hospitals.

Earlier, during OPD hours, doctors were often busy in ward rounds, forcing patients to wait for hours in queues. Under the new rules, doctors must be present at the scheduled time during OPD days, while ward rounds will take place later in the day or when patient load is lower.

Key Decisions

Strict Leave Policy

Changes have been made in day-off rules. No doctor will be granted leave when their unit has OPD scheduled. Leave will be approved only in case of an emergency.  Casual leave will only be granted with prior approval from the superintendent and proper alternative arrangements. On Sundays and government holidays, leave for department heads and administrative officials will depend on necessity.

24/7 Senior Doctor Deployment

Senior Medical Officers or Assistant Professors will be posted in the Emergency unit round-the-clock as per roster.

PG Classes Rules

PG classes will be suspended on OPD days. Doctors will focus on patient care instead of attending PG classes on OPD days.

Mandatory Dress Code

All doctors, nursing staff, paramedical staff and agency employees must wear proper uniform and ID cards during duty.

Department Heads' Responsibility

Department heads must ensure staff attendance on time so patient care is not disrupted.

CMO Authority

The in-charge of the Emergency unit will be the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), whose decision regarding patient admission will be final.
