NIA Takes Over Delhi Blast Probe; Death Toll Now 13

Investigators probe suicide bombing or larger terror plot; FIR filed under UAPA and Explosives Act

Nov 11, 2025 – Investigators are probing whether the blast that occurred in a moving car near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday evening reportedly killing 13 people was suicide bombing or part of a larger terror plan even though it is largely suspected as a Fidayeen (suicide) attack. Twenty people were injured in the blast and are receiving treatment in hospital.

As per latest reports, the anti-terror agency National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the Delhi blast case.

Sources say that a doctor from Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama, allegedly with links to the terror module recently busted in Faridabad, may be behind the car blast. According to reports, investigators have been analysing the CCTV footage collected from the area and allegedly have identified the person driving the Hyundai i20 as Umar Mohammad, the doctor from Pulwama who, investigators claim, is allegedly associated with Jaish-e-Mohammad. DNA samples found in the car will be tested to ascertain this suspicion.

Earlier, on Monday, police had busted a terror network in Faridabad and arrested one person who was found with around 2,900 kg of explosives, including 360 kg of ammonium nitrate. The Red Fort area blast is being suspected as a consequence of this arrest.

Meanwhile, as per officials, Delhi Police on Tuesday, November 11, registered an FIR under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosives Act in connection with the blast. The national capital has been place on high alert with strict vigil increased at airports, railways stations and all public places.
