Sunita Williams and Crew Return to Earth Safely  

The astronauts will now rest and undergo medical checkups in Houston before returning to their normal routine

Udaipur, March 19, 2025 - NASA astronauts Sunita Williams, Butch Wilmore, Nick Hague, and Russian cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov have safely returned to Earth. They traveled back on the SpaceX Dragon Freedom spacecraft and landed in the Gulf of Mexico. The crew started their return journey on March 18. The spacecraft’s hatch was closed, sealing them inside. The spacecraft detached from the International Space Station (ISS) and began its 17-hour trip back to Earth.  

The Dragon Freedom spacecraft safely landed in the Gulf of Mexico on March 19 at 3:27 AM IST. Rescue teams quickly reached them, checked their health, and helped them out of the capsule.  

Crew in Good Health 

NASA official Steve Stich confirmed that all astronauts, including Sunita Williams, are doing well. After a quick health check on the rescue ship, they were taken by helicopter to NASA’s facility for further tests.  The astronauts will now rest and undergo medical checkups in Houston before returning to their normal routine.
