Swiss Bank is going to share secret bank accounts of Indian account holders to Indian authorities. Soon Indian Government would be launching DTAA (
double tax avoidance agreement) scheme with Swiss Government. This deal would be helpful to get data of those tax evaders who have account in swiss bank & want to skip the tax.
DTAA is a scheme under which a person, who has migrated to a different country, has to pay double tax on Same Income Asset or Transactions. For example income paid by an entity of one country to a resident of a different country. The double liability is often mitigated by
tax treaties between countries.(source-Wikipedia) Those Indians, who have secret accounts in Swiss Bank after January 2011, would be traceable by Indian Government in case of any tax fraud. Both countries have agreed upon the treaty after consideration. A final ratification from Swiss Government is yet to be received which is expected to get confirmation by the end of this year. According to news published in
economictimes Indian made a pact with Swiss Government about DTAA treaty in August 2010. This would work as a detecting agent for India to spy on all Tax frauds. As the issue of black money is boiling day by day along with the anti corruption issues, India has DTAA treaty with around 60 countries like Australia, Bangladesh, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China and many more. By the sanction of these treaties, India can ask for data files from Swiss Bank of any account holder. So India is waiting eagerly for the treaty approval as the Government is already under huge pressure from opposition to spill the beans about those who have an illegal store of black money deposit in Swiss Account.
