Tauktae Cyclone expected to cross Udaipur at 2am - weakened but still destructive

Udaipur on alert mode - Administration, Police and Medical personnel have been asked to be on duty perpetually to tackle any eventuality arising out of this development

The weather department has cautioned Udaipur as the Tauktae Cycloon has shifted route and is expected to hit Udaipur at 2am today. The period between 11pm tonight till 5am tomorrow morning is expected to witness heavy rains and high speed winds. The cone of Tauktae is expected near Udaipur, albeit at a moderate speed.

With high speed winds and rains in the city of lakes towards late evening, the administration has acted proactivtly and has put in control orders already.

As per the instructions given by the District Collector Chetan Deora, the following departments will be active and full functional all through the night and till late morning.

  • District Collectorate
  • Urban Improvement Trust, Udaipur
  • Udaipur Municipal Corporation
  • All Sub Divisional Officers and offices
  • All Panchayat Samiti Offfices
  • All AVVNL offices in the district

Control Rooms at Police Headquarters, PWD, NHAI and UIT shall be monitored by senior personnel. The Collector has instructed all the administrative departments to be fully functional and fully equipped to manage all situations till the time the cyclone has not passed over the area.

The epicentre of the cyclone when it passes over Udaipur, will be Kotra, Gogunda and Sayra. Accordingly, the district Collector has asked for all administrative departments to be prepared for any eventuality.

District Collector Chetan Deora has instructed the Principal of RNT Medical College, CMHO,Superintendent of MB Hospital and authorised officers of the satellite hospitals across the district to be prepared with equipment, nursing staff, doctors and all medical help to tackle any eventuality. All personnel have been instructed to be on alert mode till the evening of 19 May. 108 Ambulances have been instructed to go on alert mode. A temporary station for 108 Ambulance has been established at Delhi Gate.
