Government teachers whose promotions are still pending under Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) gathered outside the Deputy Director (secondary school) office at Residency School and demanded promotion list to be released by today or they will start a hunger strike.
There are 3,644 such teachers in Udaipur division who are employed in rural areas and appointed as third grade teacher. As per the information, these teachers should get promotion in any particular subject.
Orders of DPC were released three months ago but no action has been taken yet. A group of nearly 100 teachers gathered outside the secondary board office and warned of hunger strike if their demand went unheard.
Sher Singh, president of the Teachers Association said that previously, due to stay, the promotions were halted. The teachers are concerned if such situation reoccurs.
