A loop hole in the working of the Municipal Council, Udaipur popped up yesterday when a part of the newly plastered ceiling of a hall at the municipal council came down. A heavy budget to renovate the structure was passed recently and following the approval the building was under repair.

As soon as this news spread in the media the officials were left red faced over the issue and in a helter-skelter summoned the contractor (was felicitated last year with a shawl) responsible for the renovation work and ordered a committee to investigate over the matter. It is quite evident that the building material that was used was of inferior quality. Fortunately no one was injured but this happening leaves us stranded in the middle of a why???? why such tenders are always given to selected contractors that compromises with quality of the material and of the work. It is to be noted that earlier too such act of compromising with the building material was brought into light by the president of the construction committee and a team to investigate over the issue was formed, but what we believe that the team is still investigating and kudos to this recent event, they have work to do in the near future too. Ayub Khan of the opposition party said the committee to be formed should have members that are not inclined to a party in question and must be from Jaipur.
