On Tuesday night, miscreants tried to steal the statue of Rabindra Nath Tagore from RNT Medical College. They extirpated the statue but could not take it away as it was too heavy to be lifted. CCTV footages of the college show that the miscreants came in Hyundai I 10 car around midnight. First they clicked pictures of the statue and then uprooted the statue as a result of which it fell to the ground. They tried to lift it but since the statue was heavy, they could not succeed.

The security guard who was dozing off got up but did not utter a single word as he was too scared. The miscreants then left the college premises in their car after 10 minutes. The statue was noticed by some of the residents passing by at 12:10 a.m. They informed everyone about the statue fallen on the ground. The Principal of RNT Medical College reached the premises the next morning. Police was also called who helped to put the statue back in place. The culprits are being searched for.
