Thieves made their way into a flat in broad daylight on Wednesday. The flat owner is a teacher and was off to school.

Flat no.501 in Orbit Complex in Hajari bagh which falls under Bhupalpura police station area was victimised by thieves. The flat owner Anita is a teacher in government school. She left home at 6:45 a.m. for school. When she returned at 3:20 p.m., she saw that the main gate’s lock and interlock were broken. Her house was ransacked, almirah locks were broken and all valuables were taken away. 20 pairs of ear studs, one pair of diamond stud, one gold bangle, 5 rings, gold chain, gold pendant, pearl necklace, 40 silver coins, silver bowls, pair of silver anklets, foreign currency and one lakh twenty thousand rupees in cash were stolen.

Police tried to find details through CCTV cameras in the complex but none of the camera was in working condition. Even the building’s security guard is not aware of any stranger entering and moving out of the building. The case seems suspicious as it is not possible for just anyone to reach to the fifth floor in a complex and move out unnoticed. Primary investigations reveal that the security guard was away from the building for a while and the thieves got the golden chance.

As per police reports, Anita is a widow and her children work abroad. She had gone to Singapore to meet her children during vacations and returned just a few days back. There are all the possibilities that the thieves did a good recce of the area and knew that the house remains unattended for a long time. Police is also investigating all acquaintances of Anita.
