At fairs, which are often bustling and crowded, it becomes much easier for thieves to steal items. The large number of people creates a chaotic environment where it's difficult for individuals to keep track of their belongings, making it an ideal setting for theft. On Sunday, July 4, 2024, Udaipur's Hariyali Amavasya fair experienced several theft incidents, even with high security measures in place.

450 Personnel, including ASPs, DSPs, and station officers at various places in the fair were present still pickpockets and snatchers remained active. Throughout the day, 5 wallets, 25 mobile phones, and 15-20 chains were stolen from people.

The police could not provide an accurate count of the thefts as no official reports were filed. However, around 50 such cases were reported at the complaint center. ASP Umesh Ojha stated that the police detained 15 minor boys for suspicious activities at the fair. These children were with vendors who had come to the fair from Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh. However, nothing could be recovered from them.

Today, on July 4,2024, police personnel will be deployed from Fateh Sagar, UDA Circle, through Saheli Marg, up to Fatehpura Chowki and Sukhadia Circle. Several police officers have been assigned to wear plain clothes.

Additionally, fourteen children got separated from their families. These children are between the ages of 8 and 17. Families reported this to the complaint center of the Udaipur Municipal Corporation. The center located the children and reunited them with their families. An elderly woman also got lost and was reunited with her family as well.
