Over the last 3 days, the Udaipur Traffic Police, under the directives of the S.P Hariprasad Sharma, have undertaken a drive to pull up cars having tinted glass windows and windshields.
Today evening, more than 20 vehicles having tinted glass with films above the prescribed level were seized and penalized. In all, 45 vehicles have been penalized for this over the last three days. A ‘Challan’ of Rs. 100 has been decided as the penalty in this case.
According to sources, the global standard for permitted transparency is 50% on the side windows and 70% on the rear and front windshields. The Traffic Police has been instructed to immediately implement the criteria from now onwards.
One of the Deputy Inspector Traffic police said, “We would be keeping a watch for vehicles not adhering to the standards”.
