Expectations of toy train making a come back to Gulab Bagh have gone up after UMC issued a tender for the toy train and re-laying of the track. Further, Kamal Talai will also see the operation of a pedal boat.

Expectations of toy train making a come back to Gulab Bagh have gone up after UMC issued a tender for the toy train and re-laying of the track. Further, Kamal Talai will also see the operation of a pedal boat.

UMC has estimated the cost of the complete tender to be around Rs 5.5 Cr. Lokesh Trivedi, Deputy Mayor, said that work for issuance of the tender has been completed. Work will begin once the entire tendering process is completed and work order is issued.

Ex-Mayor Rajni Dangi had initiated the process of getting a new toy-train and track re-laying after the earlier toy-train met with multiple cases of derailing. Because of derailment, compartments have fallen and passengers injured.

As per the tender, the operating period has been set for 15 years. It has been conditioned that while laying the new track, old railings will not be used.  Further, operator will have to provide for lighting facility outside the booking office and free drinking water.

A new station will also be set up. The entire track will be newly laid. The track will also be wider than the current track. The train will be more contemporary and expected to attract more kids.

Prices for Indian citizen will be set at Rs 50 for people about 12 years and 25 for ones below 12 years. Kids below 3 years may ride free. The train will be operated from 8 am to 8 pm  from March to Aug and from 8:30 am to 7:00 pm from Sept to Feb.
