Udaipur Traffic Control: In a bid to alleviate traffic congestion in the Walled City area, the traffic police have implemented several measures at Mukherjee Chowk. Entry of cars and loading auto-rickshaws has been restricted from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm from April 2,2024. Additionally, poorly parked vehicles have been directed to be placed inside the white lines on the roadside.

According to DSP Netrapal Singh, arrangements have been made to enforce these restrictions effectively. Two-wheelers and vehicles belonging to local residents are instructed to park on the roadside. Throughout the day, traffic personnel are providing guidance to ensure proper parking. To ensure the sustainability of these measures, a police officer will be stationed at the location, and action will be taken against any irregular parking.

Adjacent Areas Challenges

However, challenges persist in areas like Bada Bazaar, Kol Pol, and Maldas Street, where parking arrangements are insufficient. This results in residents and visitors resorting to parking their vehicles on the roads, leading to further traffic disruptions.

In response to these challenges, the traffic police have announced plans to address the issue by reaching out to Udaipur Municipal Corporation. A letter will be written to inquire about the parking arrangements in these complexes. The investigation will focus on whether complex owners provided information about parking facilities during the permission process with the corporation.
