Transport Department Services Delayed Due to DTOs Additional Charges

Authorities hope that these issues will be solved in the coming months, and services will run smoothly again

Udaipur, December 9,2024 - The work at the Transport Department in Udaipur is getting delayed, which is causing problems for people. This delay is because two officers, who are supposed to take care of Udaipur, also have extra responsibilities for other districts.

Why is this happening?

  • DTO (District Transport Officer) Anil Soni is responsible for Udaipur and Rajsamand.

  • DTO Atul Sharma is responsible for Udaipur and Dungarpur.
Since both officers have to divide their time between these districts, they are not always available in Udaipur.

How does this affect the public?
People who need to do things like vehicle registration, transfer, or get licenses are facing long waits. On average, 200 to 300 people visit the office every day, but many have to return multiple times because the officers are not always there.

What is being done to fix this?
The Regional Transport Officer (RTO), Nemichand Parikh, said that new officers will be posted soon to help with the workload. This will hopefully improve the situation.

Vacant Positions

  • The DTO for Dungarpur, Anil Mathur, retired on October 31, and his position has been vacant for more than a month.

  • The DTO for Rajsamand, Kalpana Sharma, was transferred on November 28, and now Atul Sharma has to manage both districts.

What services are delayed?

  • Registration of commercial vehicles, vehicle transfers, and new licenses are all delayed.

  • There is also a growing backlog of old licenses, which makes things even more frustrating for people.

Authorities hope that these issues will be solved in the coming months, and services will run smoothly again.
