Udaipur, March 19, 2025 - The Udaipur Transport Department has intensified its campaign against defaulter vehicle-owners who have outstanding tax dues. Yesterday, March 18, more than 50 heavy and passenger vehicles in the Udaipur transport area were seized for defaulting on payment.

Providing this information, Regional Transport Officer Gyandev Vishwakarma said that more than 50% of the revenue target allocated to the department by the State Government for the financial year 2024-25 was achieved as of March 18.

The State Government has implemented an amnesty scheme for vehicle owners with outstanding taxes, offering exemptions on interest, penalties and e-rawanna challans, said Vishwakarma. Under this scheme, relief is provided for overloading cases recorded based on toll booths and the mining department's e-rawanna, allowing them to be settled at very low amounts.

The officer informed that the transport department’s flying squads and officers are conducting vehicle checks for effective implementation of the regular and outstanding tax collection as well as the amnesty scheme. Additional Regional Transport Officer Nanji Ram Gulsar and District Transport Officer Nitin Bohra are leading 24-hour enforcement activities in Udaipur. Flying squads have been deployed on national and state highways as well as at the tehsil level, to maximise revenue collection and ensure vehicle owners benefit from the amnesty and other departmental advantages.

Vishwakarma appealed to vehicle owners to take full advantage of the limited-time amnesty and pay online before March 31. After March 31, a comprehensive and intensive campaign will be launched to seize all defaulter vehicles, suspending and cancelling their RC, fitness, permits, etc., and collecting outstanding amounts along with penalties and interest, he cautioned.
