As the falling of trees continue in the city, another giant tree fell to the ground today at Bhatnagar Colony, Jheeni Ret area this afternoon.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported in the incident except for a minor damage to the boundary wall of a house in the area.
According to sources, the old big Neem tree was located near the temple at Bhatnagar Colony and was already in a fragile condition.
Praveen Bhatnagar, owner of the house whose boundary wall has been damaged due to the incident told UT, “We have given several written requests to our ward councillor Archana Sharma (Ward 49) about the tree’s weak condition, but in vain and today finally it collapsed”.
Archana Sharma the councillor of area, who visited the spot said, “We tried doing our best and shred the tree bushes in the recent past, to reduce the weight on the trunk”.
The tree fell around 2.15 PM soon after the sounds of the cracklings but the alert citizens cleared the area and vehicles, which subsequently saved major harm.
