The booster dose will be administered to Covaxin beneficiaries 6 months after their 2nd shot.

This will be done after it gets cleared by regulatory authorities.

Bharat Biotech has begun with the trials of 3rd “booster” dose of Covaxin at AIIMS Delhi and AIIMS Patna. The Hyderabad base vaccine maker informed on Monday that the 3rd dose of Covaxin will be administered to the beneficiaries 6 months after they have received the 2nd shot.

All this is subject to the regulatory authority’s approval for the “booster dose” post trials. The permission for conducting the trials was given to Bharat Biotech by Drug Controller General of India (DCGI).

As per reports, the studies would be conducted on volunteers who have received the 2nd dose of Covaxin 6 months ago. The trials are aimed at assessing the immunogenicity, safety, reactogenicity and tolerability of the Covaxin booster dose.
