Tri-Party MoU signed for Sewerage Treatment Plant
The First Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) of Udaipur has been approved today in a meeting held at UIT, between the officials of the Urban Improvement Trust (UIT), Udaipur Municipal Council (UMC) and Hindustan Zinc Ltd (HZL). A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the above named towards the construction and other related matters.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the above named towards the construction and other related matters.
As per the approval and MoU, a SewerageTreatment Plant with a capacity of 20 Million Ton per day will be constructed in the vicinity of Manvakheda area by HZL. The plant is expected to start giving its services to the city after 18 months as the deadline for the same has been established. The land for the same will be finalized soon.
In what has been a burning need of the City of Lakes, this Treatment Plant will be installed on a 2.7 hectors of area around Manvakheda and state-of-the-art technology will be employed by HZL towards the construction of the plant. Other works such as allocation of land and construction of the sewerage line from Hathipol to Manvakheda will also be managed by HZL.
It will be the responsibility of the Udaipur Municipal Council to insure that all sewerage of city should reach the treatment plant. The UIT has already started the construction of sewerage line under the NLCP Project.
R.P Sharma, Secretary, UIT said, “This treatment plant will ensure proper disposal of waste and will also help keeping lakes free from sewerage waste.”
Akhilesh Joshi, CEO, HZL said, “Udaipur is a place of global importance and to preserve the beauty and natural environment of Udaipur, this Sewerage Plant was a necessity for Udaipur. We are happy that HZL along with the State Government is completing this part”.
