A major fire broke out today morning at 11 AM at the RIICO Industrial Area, Umarada, where a boring machine was gutted due to a short–circuit.

The fire was so intense that it took around 11 fire brigade vehicles and around 5 hours to control it.

An area in the radius of 1 km was evacuated due to possibilities of blast in the compressor of the boring vehicle which was also filled with around 2500 liters of petrol. The laborers working on the site initially made attempts at their level to douse the fire before the fire brigade could arrive but in a while the vehicle got entangled in flames. There were no causalities reported in the incident but everybody at the scene was seen in a helter skelter. The fire was finally controlled at 3:30 in the evening.
