'US Now Hottest Country': Trump in Marathon State of Union Address

Feb 25, 2026 - US President Donald Trump delivered the 2026 State of the Union address on February 24, 2026, to a joint session of Congress in the House chamber at the US Capitol in Washington, DC. The address was the longest State of the Union address in US history lasting about 1 hour and 48 minutes.

It was Trump’s first official State of the Union address of his second term and he used it to bring forth a range of economic achievements in the country during his tenure. This included claims of a “roaring economy,” lower prices, strong job numbers and crime and immigration crackdown.

“This is the golden age of America”, he pronounced adding that he had inherited a “dead” nation but now America was the “hottest country anywhere in the world”.

He also addressed foreign policy — including warnings about Iran’s nuclear ambitions and comments on global conflicts and how he had ended a series of wars around the word — and reaffirmed hardline stances on tariffs and trade. He criticised the Democrats for not supporting his economic agenda and for having raised the price of healthcare and making insurance companies rich.

"Tonight, after just one year, I can say with dignity and pride that we have achieved a transformation like no one has ever seen before, and a turnaround for the ages," Trump  said.

The Democrats have strongly criticised Trump’s speech as disconnected from Americans’ real-life struggles, highlighting concerns over inflation and other issues.
