June 24, 2025 - US President announced Monday evening (June 23) a ceasefire agreement by Iran and Israel which he described as “complete and total”.

"It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE. On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both Countries, Israel and Iran, on having the Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence to end, what should be called, 'THE 12 DAY WAR'," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

According to sources, Qatar held talks with Iran on the US-proposed ceasefire.

At around 4:00 Iranian local time, Iran said it would stop the attack if Israel reciprocates. However, an hour later Israel claimed it identified missiles launched from Iran leading to activation of sirens. According to Israeli authorities, a missile hit a residential building in the Israeli city of Beer Sheva, even as Trump has declared a ceasefire.

Iran, on the other hand, accused Israel of launching missiles on Tehran overnight.

White House sources say both countries have agreed to not attack each other although Israel still has not issued any statement to the ceasefire claims.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said no ceasefire or nuclear negotiations will begin until Israel halts its military operations. He said they had “no interest” in continuing the conflict providing Israel stops its “illegal aggression”. He also thanked the country’s armed forces for “fighting until the very last minute” thereby hinting at a ceasefire.
