Hamas Halts Hostage Release
Hamas announced that it would stop releasing Israeli hostages until further notice. The militant group accused Israel of violating the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. For the past three weeks, Hamas had been releasing hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners and detainees. However, after the sudden announcement, hostage families and their supporters gathered at Hostages Square in Tel Aviv on Monday night, urging the government to continue negotiations.
Egypt Opposes U.S. Plan on Gaza
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington on Monday. Abdelatty conveyed that Arab states reject Trump's proposal to displace Palestinians from Gaza and take control of the enclave. He emphasized the need to speed up Gaza’s reconstruction while ensuring Palestinians remain in their homeland.
The situation remains tense, with fears of the conflict escalating if no agreement is reached.
