In a meeting held on Sunday morning at the Municipal Corporation's Smart City office, District Collector Arvind Poswal conducted a comprehensive review of the ongoing projects under the Smart City initiative in Udaipur. The meeting was attended by Smart City CEO Aparna Gupta and ACEO Pradeep Singh Sangawat, who provided updates on the status of various projects. During the meeting, the CEO informed the Collector that a total of 106 Smart City projects, with a combined cost of Rs. 806 crore, have been successfully completed in the city. Additionally, there are 5 ongoing projects currently in progress. The projects covered a wide range of areas, including Integrated Infrastructure Development, Heritage Conservation, Amrit Phase-2, Redevelopment of Schools and Anganwadi Centers, Parking and Junction Improvement, Public Cycle Sharing Options, as well as initiatives related to Solid Waste Management and Waste Recycling.
The meeting served as an opportunity to evaluate the accomplishments of the Smart City project thus far and to assess the status of ongoing works. The District Collector and the Smart City team discussed the outcomes and addressed any potential challenges to ensure the effective implementation and completion of the remaining projects. During the meeting, detailed information was provided about the significant progress made in sewerage work throughout the city. The CEO also presented a comprehensive breakdown of the budget allocations for various sectors and how much has been spent so far.
Moreover, the Smart City team briefed the District Collector on technical aspects related to energy, health, education, and urban transportation. Updates were shared on rehabilitation work, the construction of Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) at MB Hospital, the renovation of the collectorate building, and other labeling initiatives undertaken as part of the Smart City project. One noteworthy accomplishment highlighted by CEO Gupta was the successful heritage conservation work carried out on the Fort Wall. This work earned Udaipur Smart City the prestigious HUDCO Design Award for the year 2021-22. The team also proudly mentioned that Udaipur Smart City currently holds the seventh position nationwide in terms of overall progress, and they are continually striving to achieve the top rank.
Concluding the meeting, the District Collector emphasized the importance of completing all ongoing Smart City projects within the designated timelines, aiming to provide much-needed relief to the general public. After the meeting, the Collector conducted an inspection of the Smart City office and visited different divisions to personally observe the ongoing work.
