Udaipur, Jan 26, 2026: Udaipur celebrated the 77th Republic Day of India, which also marked the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’, the national song, with traditional patriotic fervour at the historic Bhandari Darshak Mandap (popularly known as Gandhi Ground).

The National Tricolour was hoisted by Babulal Kharadi, Cabinet Minister in the Rajasthan Government, who oversees the Tribal Area Development and Home Defence departments.

Thrilling Parade

The Republic Day ceremony in Udaipur was distinguished by a colourful and disciplined march past, as multiple contingents paraded before the Tricolour, filling the venue with patriotic enthusiasm and vibrant hues.

The main attraction of the ceremony was the parade conducted under the direction of Line Officer and retired military officer Premshankar Shrimali of NCC Headquarters Udaipur, and led by Parade Commander RI Gulab Singh. Contingents of the Rajasthan Police, Home Guard, National Service Scheme units, etc., marched in step to the rhythm of the band. The synchronized, disciplined steps of the marchers instilled enthusiasm and patriotism in the spectators present on the ground. During the parade, the entire ground परिसर resonated with applause and slogans of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" (Victory to Mother India). The police men's team was led by SI Hitesh Kumar Yadav, the women's team by SI Mamta Gurjar, the Home Guard men's team by HPC Dineshchandra, the women's team by HPC Yashoda, NSS SD Army Wing 10 Raj. by Neha, NSS Naval SW 1 Raj. by Rohit, NSS Air SDSW 6 Raj. by Shraddhiraj, NSS Army Girls by Tanisha, NSS JDJW by Naman, Bharat Scout Boys by Rudrapratap Singh, and Hindustan Scout by Jinal. The police band marched under the leadership of Master Kanhaiyalal, and the Digambar Jain School band team marched under the leadership of Jyoti Kumawat.

Homage Paid to Martyrs

During the ceremony, Kharadi felicitated Dharamchand Nagori and Sushila Nagori, parents of martyr Lieutenant Abhinav Nagori of Udaipur, Pushpa Meena, the widow of martyr Ratanlal Meena, and Chand Kunwar, the wife of freedom fighter Kanhaiyalal Paliwal, by presenting them with shawls and coconuts.

Exercise demonstrations

At the ceremony, students from the Deaf Higher Secondary School performed a group exercise demonstration. Students from Central Public Higher Secondary School also presented a group exercise performance. The discipline and coordination of the children were remarkable. Children from St. Anthony's School, Balicha, presented a patriotic group dance.

Following the parade, 90 individuals were felicitated for their outstanding contributions in various fields. Among them, 75 individuals received District Level honours, while 15 were awarded Sub-Divisional recognitions.
