Taking the step towards preventing wild animals to enter the airport runway area, Udaipur’s Maharana Pratap Airport Authority has installed cages to seize wild animals from entering the sensitive area of airport.
The action was taken with the assistance of a team of forest department. The airport authority is struggling hard to keep away Jackals from the airport runaway who often wander in the runway area in search of food creating threat for the air traffic.
The animals were caught and then freed far away in jungles, said Layk Ali Khan, assistance wild life conservator who with his team inspected the areas of runaway with airport officials. According to the information provided, a few days back, a jackal had obstructed the flight of Jet Airways resulting in the emergency landing to avoid mishap.
There are green patchy areas around the boundaries of airport which include natural rocks and few pits making favorable environment for jackals that keep hiding in day time and come out after sunset and roam around the runaway.
