In a decision aimed at addressing the long-standing water scarcity issue plaguing the Mavli region, authorities have given the green light to revive the Bagolia Dam, which has remained dry for over two decades. The path to rejuvenate the dam has been cleared, with water from Udaisagar set to be diverted to fill its reservoir.

The decision to divert 180 MCFT of water from the Udaisagar canal to the Bagolia Dam was announced during the visit of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma to Mavli. In response to mounting demands, the Chief Minister directed the District Collector to investigate the feasibility of reviving the Bagolia Dam. Following consultations with officials from the Water Resources Department, consensus was reached on the allocation of water resources to address the pressing needs of the region.

District Collector Arvind Kumar Poswal, after securing approval from the state government, has sanctioned a Detailed Project Report (DPR) worth Rs 190 crore from the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) to facilitate the diversion of water from Udaisagar to the Bagolia Dam.

The Mavli region, grappling with acute shortages of drinking and irrigation water, has long awaited this development. Despite persistent efforts by residents and elected representatives, previous attempts to address the issue had yielded little success. The approval of this project marks a significant breakthrough in the region's water management efforts.

Water for the Bagolia Dam will be redirected from the main canal of Udaisagar, ensuring a steady supply of water to the parched reservoir. Upon completion of the diversion, residents from 17 villages in the vicinity will finally experience relief from the perennial water scarcity woes.

With this historic decision, hopes are high for a brighter future in the Mavli region, as the revival of the Bagolia Dam promises to alleviate water scarcity concerns and foster sustainable development for generations to come.
