Udaipur Wins Best Non-Motorised Transport System Award
Udaipur Smart City recognised for promoting eco-friendly and people-centric transport at the 18th Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference and Expo 2025
Udaipur, Nov 10, 2025 - Udaipur has now gained recognition as a city promoting green and smart lifestyles. Udaipur Smart City has been honoured with Excellence in Urban Transport Award under the category of City with the Best Non-Motorised Transport System. The award was given at the three-day 18th Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference and Expo 2025 held in Gurugram, Haryana, which concluded on November 9.
This recognition holds great significance not only for Udaipur but for entire Rajasthan.
The event was graced by Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs and Power Manohar Lal Khattar and Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu. Minister for Urban Development and Local Self-Governance Jhabar Singh Khara received the award on behalf of the State Government.
Accepting the award, Khara said this honour is a recognition of Rajasthan’s ongoing efforts toward sustainable and people-friendly urban development. He added that this success is the result of the collective hard work of the entire team and the people of Udaipur.
Under the Smart City Mission, Udaipur has undertaken several initiatives to make urban transport more accessible, clean and environmentally friendly. Dedicated cycling tracks spanning 14.5 km have been developed in areas such as Fateh Sagar, Hiran Magri and Balicha Smart Road. In addition, docking stations and 100 public bicycles have been made available across the city.
The three-day conference concluded with distribution of awards in different categories of Urban Transport. The awards are given to the State/city authorities for “Excellence/ Best Practice Projects in Urban Transport”.
The following eight categories of awards were given to the winners who have been recommended by the Awards Selection Committee headed by the high-level officers of the Government and experts of the field:
- City with Best Public Transport System - Chennai
- City with Best Non-Motorised Transport – Udaipur; Special Mention Thrissur
- City with Most Innovative Financing Mechanism – Pimpri Chinchwad
- City with the Best Green Transport Initiatives - Hyderabad
- Metro Rail with the Best Multimodal Integration - Chennai
- Metro Rail with Best Passenger Services and Satisfaction - Delhi
- Running Trophy for the State/UT which has Implemented Best Urban Transport Projects in the previous year – Kolkata and Mysuru; Special Mention Bhubaneswar
- Special award for Efficient Traffic Management System that deserves recognition - Aizawl
