In a meeting held by District Traffic management Committee today, the Municipal Council has decided to install CCTV Cameras on all the major traffic circles in order to improve the traffic regulations of the city.

Hemant Gera, District Collector said, ‘’Major traffic circles will be equipped with CCTV Cameras, and the traffic rules will be tightened.”

The Municipal Council Chairperson, Rajni Dangi seconded the decision of installing CCTV cameras at the major traffic signals and undertook the responsibility for ensuring the same.

The police will be using high technical quality cameras to maintain the traffic regulation and also to keep a check on the violations.

In addition to the cameras on the circles, places that face a heavy flow of vehicular traffic will be equipped with cameras that can rotate 360 degrees, so that the Police Control room can keep a better watch.

The collector also advised the construction department to invigilate and analyze the accident-prone areas and use all technical measures available to rectify the situation. He also suggested doing an experimental selection of one of the roads in the city and constructing barriers on either side of the walking lane to negate the illegal parking and encroachments.

The Collector also directed the orders to the UIT and the Transport department to sign an MOU within 7 days for construction of a Traffic Park and a Driving Track.

In addition to this, the committee also discussed on developing new parking spots, mandatory reflectors on vehicles, one way traffic on narrow roads and taking actions against all illegal encroachments along the footpath and markets.
