Udaipur cloth merchants today carried out a protest march against application of GST on cloth. Udaipur cloth merchants echoed their solidarity with Surat cloth merchants who have closed their establishments indefinitely against the GST application.

The cloth merchants are demanding a revocation of the 5% GST that has been applied on cloth trading. Surat cloth merchants have been protesting for a week now on the issue and today their Udaipur brethren picked up the placards and walked the streets protesting against the GST application. Ahmedabad textile market also started an indefinite strike from today against the GST levy.

Union Minister Parshottam Rupala urged the traders to engage in talks with Centre for resolution of the issues and expressed confidence that the issues can be resolved with a dialogue.
