Udaipur, May 30, 2024: Udaipur is experiencing a significant rise in tourism. Yet there is a concern over crime rates, as indicated by recent reports from the city's police stations.

Crime Rates in Old City

Analysis reveals that Dhan Mandi and Ghanta Ghar police station areas are deemed the safest in the old city, with only 5 to 10 cases registered on average per month. Contrastingly, Pratap Nagar police station records the highest number of cases.

Highway Proximity and Crime Incidence

Areas adjacent to highways report a higher incidence of crimes, encompassing murder, robbery, theft, assault, accidents, and smuggling. Although major crimes occasionally occur within the city, their frequency is comparatively lower than in outskirts.

Emergence of Street Crimes

Recent times have witnessed a surge in street crimes within Udaipur, like mobile and chain snatching, and theft of two-wheelers.

Rising of Cybercrime

Alongside traditional street crimes, cybercrime is on the rise. Residents, especially women, are urged to exercise caution, avoiding deserted areas and keeping valuables concealed. Precautions against cybercrime include refraining from divulging sensitive information and avoiding interactions with unknown individuals.
