Durga Nursery Road Intersection

The Udaipur Municipal Corporation has initiated a major project to improve the city's traffic system, particularly at the busy Durga Nursery intersection. On Monday, September 30, 2024, the foundation stone for the intersection's expansion was laid, marking a step toward easing congestion in the area that connects Ashok Nagar and Ayad.

Land Expansion for Road Widening

A key part of the project involves the MLV Tribal Research and Training Institute (TRI), which has provided 10 feet of land from its premises adjacent to the road. This will make approximately 270 square meters available for public use, aiding in the road's expansion. Earlier, 13 feet of land from the Sukhadia Samadhi, located on the opposite side of the intersection, was shifted back. These land adjustments will increase the intersection's radius, reducing the traffic bottleneck at this key junction.

Road Widening Details

Currently, the road between Ashok Nagar and Ayad bridge is 37 feet wide. With the land donation from TRI, a 120-foot-long section of the road will be widened to 47 feet. The Durga Nursery intersection, which currently has a diameter of 22 meters, will be expanded to 28 meters. This increase in space will significantly ease the flow of vehicles, especially during peak traffic hours.

Parallel Road for Smoother Traffic Flow

In addition to widening the intersection, the Municipal Corporation will construct a parallel road within the TRI section. This road will allow traffic heading towards Ayad to bypass the intersection, ensuring smoother and uninterrupted flow.

Inauguration and Leadership

The foundation stone was laid in the presence of City MLA Tarachand Jain, Rural MLA Phoolsingh Meena, Mayor GS Tank, Deputy Mayor Paras Singhvi, and City BJP District President Ravindra Shrimali. Mayor Tank had earlier written to TRI on January 5, 2024, requesting land for the project, which was later approved, paving the way for this expansion.
