To ensure that Udaipur is brightly lit during the Diwali festival, the electricity department has made essential preparations for uninterrupted power supply.

Continuous Power Supply

SE K.R. Meena announced that there will be a continuous power supply from Roop Chaudas through Diwali, Govardhan Puja, and Bhai Dooj. To facilitate this, teams have been deployed at 37 substations (GSS) in and around the city. These measures aim to minimize power disruptions to no more than 30 minutes in case of any faults.

Increased Electricity Consumption

During the Diwali celebrations, the electricity consumption in Udaipur is expected to peak at 85-90 megawatts from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM. In comparison, the usual consumption on regular days ranges from 80-85 megawatts. The increase of approximately 10 megawatts is mainly due to the decorative lighting in homes, institutions, and markets.

Lighting Patterns

The power usage for lighting occurs primarily between 6:30 PM and 10:30 PM. Moreover, since industrial units shut down after 6:00 PM, the electricity load decreases significantly during the night, helping to manage the overall demand efficiently.
