Preparations are underway to expedite progress on the proposed elevated road connecting Udaipur City Railway Station to Court Chouraha, a bustling hub of Udaipur city. Representatives from Udaipur recently met with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, in New Delhi to discuss the matter.
During the meeting, Udaipur officials requested the dispatch of engineers from the Ministry to assess the Detailed Project Report (DPR) prepared by the Udaipur Municipal Corporation.
Minister Gadkari had previously sanctioned Rs. 400 crores for this project. The delegation, including Assam Governor Gulabchand Kataria, MLA Tarachand Jain and Mayor GS Tank, emphasized the importance of a thorough inspection to identify and rectify any deficiencies promptly. MLA Tarachand Jain highlighted the pressing issue of traffic congestion in Udaipur city.
Despite the tender being issued, progress faced a setback due to a stay order from the High Court. Jain informed Gadkari that the Udaipur Development Authority and the Municipal Corporation are now exploring a joint effort to construct the elevated road. A new DPR with a revised alignment has been prepared by the Corporation, awaiting approval from the Jodhpur High Court.
Assam Governor Gulabchand Kataria stressed the importance of technical staff visiting the site to review the DPR and provide written feedback. This, he said, would strengthen the case in the Jodhpur High Court. Gadkari assured Kataria that engineers would be promptly dispatched to facilitate this crucial assessment.
