Once Elevated Road is complete, vehicles from Railway Station to Court Chauraha will bypass traffic at four intersections
The excavation work for the pillars has begun before Nataraj restaurant, at the turn leading to Shivaji Nagar Community Centre. On the entire route, pillars will be placed at a distance of 25 metres each. Excavation for two pillars is already complete and in the next phase, construction of these pillars will begin.
The area where the pillar excavation is taking place has narrowed the road, causing traffic disruptions. Movement of around 35,000 to 40,000 vehicles from Udiapol to the City Railway Station is affected daily. The construction agency has covered the work site and placed barricades on both sides to prevent accidents.
Before starting the Elevated Road construction, the agency had conducted soil testing for a month. According to the report, the ground was found to be rocky and firm, making it suitable for pillar construction. Only after this test were the excavation and construction work approved.
The Elevated Road will have around 100-102 pillars, each 17 feet high. Before descending at Bansi Pan, this road will also provide a separate exit towards Hospital Road at Court Chowraha which will divert traffic heading towards the hospital, Chetak Circle, Hathipol and Fateh Sagar road.
The Nagar Nigam and traffic department authorities believe that once the Elevated Road is up, residents will experience relief from traffic jams and benefit from reduced travel time.
