Udaipur Winters

More than half of December has passed, and the weather has been relatively mild. Out of the 17 nights in the city, only 3 have been cold so far. Even on those cold nights, the minimum temperature stayed above the December average of 8.2 degrees Celsius. On the flip side, the days have been cool, with the maximum temperature exceeding 26 degrees Celsius only on 2 days and staying below this level for 15 days.

Last year during the same period, there were 4 nights colder than average, with the minimum temperature falling below 10 degrees Celsius 10 times. The remaining 3 nights were warmer. Although the maximum temperature stayed above the average of 26 degrees Celsius for 12 days and around that level for 5 days.

According to weather experts, during the winter months, typically 3 to 4 western disturbances become active, leading to snowfall in the mountains and bringing cold winds to the plains. This year, only one disturbance has occurred so far. The influence of El Niño has also contributed to conditions that are not conducive to intense cold. In the upcoming days, another western disturbance is expected to become active, but it won't affect Udaipur. However, there is a possibility of intensified cold conditions in the last week of the month.

It is worth noting that this year, the minimum temperature has generally been more than 10 degrees, surpassing the normal range by 8 to 9 degrees. Temperatures have been ranging from 17 to 18 degrees, indicating a milder winter compared to the usual conditions.

The Weather Science Center predicts that there won't be a significant temperature drop over the next 10 days. A mild western disturbance is forecasted to be active on December 23 and 24, 2023 affecting western and northern Rajasthan. However, areas in southern Rajasthan, such as Udaipur, will remain unaffected. Rain is not expected and only light clouds are expected. Following the passage of this system, temperatures are expected to decrease by an average of 2-3 degrees in the last 4-5 days of December.
