Udaipur goes through fluctuating winter temperature

Guys! UDZens have been facing some stiff competition from the winters this time…I suppose we face more of this every year…Oh what fun it is to ride a one horse open sleigh!

Jokes apart, Udaipur, in fact most of the northern part of Rajasthan has seen some highly fluctuating temperatures in the last 3-4 days…

With a maximum temperature recorded 4 days ago, on Jan 7th (28 deg), we saw a drop to 18 degrees today, Jan 10th. But, the drop of 25% in the maximum temperatures (7 degrees) was nothing as compared to a solid drop of minimum temperatures of the day.

From a minimum of 19 degrees on Jan 7th, our sweaters, jackets and heaters saw tough working evenings and nights from8th January till today, January 10th.

The minimum temperature dropped from 19 degrees on Jan 7th to 10 degrees on Jan 8th; if that was not enough, the mercury dropped further to 7 degrees on Jan 9th and today, we saw the weather department give us a shocker with 6.5 degrees.

MLSU, which is hosting the West Zone Inter University Badminton tournament starting today, recorded a negative temperature in the region yesterday, Jan 9th (1.3 degrees!!). We could not see signs of ice anywhere, though.

As per the weather department, the heavy snowfall in the plains of Himachal and rainfall in the nearby areas were the culprits for this temperature drop.

However, we have been told to expect a rise in temperature in the coming days. It has stopped snowing in the Himachal region and we should expect less chilling trips across the city now.

Data has been given to us by the Meteorological  department.
