Udaipur, December 9,2024 - The Mining Department has announced funding for repairs and facilities in government schools across Rajasthan. The Education Department will receive Rs 1770.37 crore from the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) to support schools statewide.

Funds Allocated for Udaipur Schools

In Udaipur, Rs 58.38 crore will be allocated from DMFT for the repair of 475 government schools. The administrative approval has been given, and financial approval is expected this month. This is the first release of funds in this academic session.

School Repair Needs Across Rajasthan

There are around 72,000 schools in the state, with 3,996 schools in Udaipur. Last year, over 150 schools were damaged due to a cyclone and heavy rains. A survey found that 2,250 schools across the state needed repairs.

DMFT's Broader Impact

In addition to education, DMFT funds have been allocated for other sectors like drinking water, environmental protection, welfare of women and children, and health.

How DMFT Works?

DMFT collects a 2% fee from each mining lease annually. With 17,408 mining leases in Rajasthan, the trust's funds are used for development projects approved by the government.

A team have already improved over 500 schools in Udaipur. The new funding from DMFT will further help repair the remaining schools.
