Udaipur district Collector Anandi, in a late evening order today, announced that no businesses and markets as permitted in the Home department order of the government of Rajasthan will be allowed to open in Udaipur.

Today evenings order by the Collector, explicitly mentioned that the complete Udaipur municipal area has been declared a containment zone. Hence the orders of the Home department of government of Rajasthan WILL NOT be implemented in any areas in either the containment zone or curfew zones.  The order, which said that restaurants, eating joints, sweet shops, road side dhaaba, shops dealing in construction material, AC, Cooler, TV and electronics businesses, electrical shops, repair shops, vehicle showrooms etc will be allowed to open, WILL NOT be effected in Udaipur.

Her order came in the light of government of Rajasthan Home department orders that were issued yesterday and carried by leading dailies today, causing confusion in the Udaipur business community.

Many shopkeepers and business owners were seen in the markets today morning after reading the orders in the papers early morning today.

When contacted, UdaipurTimes had advised restraint for a day, suggesting that since Udaipur was a newly declared containment zone, it would be prudent to wait for the Collectors orders.

The Collectors orders said that in view of the growing number of COVID positive cases in Udaipur, the entire municipal area was declared a containment zone on 8 May.  All relief given for Lockdown 3 was revoked with immediate effect and all essential services and passes issued prior to May 3 were valid.

Udaipur District Collector has advised businessmen and residents to maintain discipline, caution and perseverance for the next few days to allow the administration and health department help overcome the sudden spurge in COVID infection in Udaipur.
